About African Services Committee
African Services Committee is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and self-sufficiency of the African and Caribbean immigrant communities.
We provide health, housing, legal, educational, and social services to thousands of newcomers each year in New York City with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention, care and support.
Areas of immigration legal service: U Visas, Citizenship, SIJS, Consular Processing, Deportation/removal defense, TPS, Family petitions, FOIAs, Waivers, DACA, VAWA, asylum, and medical deferred action.
Limitations on services: We provide free limited immigration services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, to the African Diaspora through our Black Immigrant Engagement Initiative, and to certain low-income New Yorkers. In addition, we provide free immigration services to eligible lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) immigrants in asylum cases and removal proceedings.
We also provide a broad range of immigration and naturalization services through our low-fee immigration clinic called the Immigrant Community Law Center.
We serve the following area:
- Bronx County
- Kings (Brooklyn) County
- New York (Manhattan) County
- Queens County
- Richmond (Staten Island) County
We also provide interpreters for Wolof, Bambara, and Soninke.
